Exploring Treatment Options

At the Center for Varicose Veins, we offer a number of treatment options to help you deal with painful varicose veins and unsightly spider veins. Below is an overview of some of our most popular treatment options.

Venaseal

Venaseal is one of the newest treatments for varicose veins. This procedure has many new benefits compared to older treatments including no requirement to wear compression stockings after the procedure. The procedure is performed under ultrasound guidance, where a small catheter is inserted in the abnormal vein. A glue is deposited along the vein. The glue seals the vein and the blood is re-routed into normal healthy veins. This procedure is also better tolerated because there is no heating during the procedure.

Radiofrequency Ablation

Radiofrequency ablation is a popular treatment for varicose veins. During this procedure a thin catheter is inserted into the diseased vein under ultrasound guidance. Once the catheter is confirmed to be in proper location, radiofrequency energy is deposited within the vein. This causes the vein to collapse and is resorbed naturally by the body. Over the following weeks, you will see the varicose veins diminish in size and notice improvement in your symptoms related to the varicose veins.

Sclerotherapy

Sclerotherapy is a very common treatment for varicose and spider veins. Sclerotherapy is performed by injecting a solution into the diseased vein. The injection can be performed under visual guidance or in cases of slightly deeper veins, under ultrasound guidance. Depending on the size of the vein, Dr. Madan may use foam sclerotherapy for treatment of larger varicose veins. Sclerotherapy can be used to treat veins throughout the body, including hand, facial, chest, foot and leg veins.

If you are looking for treatment of hand, chest, facial, foot or leg veins, book an appointment with Vascular Interventional Radiologist, Dr. Vinay Madan at the Center for Varicose Veins.
